RE: molasses corn gives deer the runs?
I use to work in a feed mill and all I can tell you is that if given to much mollasses, lets just say that the animals can have a "mud slide" if you know what i mean. Because I made that mistake when i first started their and I put to much in a custom feed for a farmer. he was not to pleased with me.[8D] so with deer? probably can happen to them also. Meaning that they are getting to much protein. chickens are very sensitive about that also. if to much ground soybeans are put in the feed. they can blow a new a@@.

RE: molasses corn gives deer the runs?
Too much protein from corn and molasses? I don't think so! No protein there. There was a thread on here somewhere about a week ago talking about how deer that aren't used to eating corn during the winter and then are given a bunch of it all at once can't digest any of it. This could actually kill a deer, something about the stomachs enzymes couldn't break down the corn and even the though the deer would feel full they wouldn't be getting any nutrients from what they were eating. The molasses added to that might just make it look runny. See if you can find that thread, some interesting info there.
