Only when I dont have my gun

Just out to catch a smoke at work ...now this is in a highly industrial area. However the property behind us is protected due to two bald eagle nests. Now back to the smoke , I look into the woods from the parking lot and what do I see ? A 6 point brusier bedded down and looking right at me only 20 yds away. He must have been injured because I whistled right at him and he didnt move just turned his head. Why cant I see that when I am actually hunting. Other than being injured can anyone come up with a reason why he is just bedded down and not moving ?

its called deer know when and where to go not to be hunted, he knew he was safe

Hallucinations might be an answer .... what "kind" of smoke were you having ? One of those left-handed Callyfornia type ?
