Default do you eat the heart??

my grandfather loves it...... i can never bring myself to try it though. just looks like a little section of the gut pile setting in the pot.

Some people love the heart. To me, if it's not attached to bone, it's GUTS- No thank you! I'll pass!

Split it in half, like an apple, then slice it in to thin strips, roll it in flour & a little seasoning, fry it over a low heat, & it's almost as good as backstraps.

Would that be considered meat or what? Sounds sick but I might try it. Just hope I don't get it confused with anything else.

each time i shoot a deer the frist thing i pull out is the heart and have a bite out of it

It isn't considered meat persay but edible for sure. I know many who love the heart and liver, personally I don't like either. I have tried them on several occasions but they just don't do it for me.

The heart is a muscle, just like the rest of the muscles (flesh) that you consume of the deer. What's the hang up? Once the heart is sliced up, it's really no different.

Now as far as the liver or the brains, no thanks..... [X(]
