What do you like to do????

RE: What do you like to do????
I usually start as soon as the deer calm down when all deer seasons are over. I keep my presence to a minimum until Summer. I will ALWAYS wear full camo and be scent killed while in the woods. I usually walk about on trails looking for bedding areas, trails off of well used trails, food areas, scrap lines, rub lines..... In the summer, I will sit on the edge of fields and watch the deer. I will make notes of where they are comming out, what they are eating, when they are comming out, and when they are going back into the woods. Then, two weeks before season, I stop scouting. I let the woods alone until the first day of archery.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

When I'm hunting during the season I am noting deer sign and patterns for use the following year. Whenever I have spare time i check out my hunting area and poke around the edges of it looking for trails, sign etc. I do most of my serious scouting about a month before season opens though.

I do most of my scouting during duck hunting between the morn and evening hunts, while everyone else in camp is napping. This is about a month before deer season, I'd spend more time scouting if I bowhunted, but since the camp insists on pushing the bush I just look for well used trails and new escape routes that haven't been covered before.

I like to scout year round, whenever I can get to the woods. I even like to go in summer, but there are lots of ticks and red bugs along with the heat in East Tex during the summer.
I mostly scout for deer trails and good transistion areas. Scince I hunt on a club, I have to scout for where other hunters are too. I like to scout by keeping an ear open for when a member gets off the lease too!
It never fails in our area that someone will get off the lease saying "there are no deer here!" Usually when I check out those spots, there are deer that they never saw, right under their noses!

I do my scouting for deer during the spring and fall turkey seasons. While sitting and watching for turkeys I am able to see the deer and where they travel.I will then scout and decide where to hang a stand about 2wks before the
season.

Start off in the winter looking for shed antlers and checking the still used trails and sign. Any deer, buck or doe, that made it into February, will be just that much more tasty in October.
The rest of the season, the gamelands are the best place for walking the dog.
I wanted to start cross country skiing this year, but have not found any used skis cheap enough.

I have already started some preliminary scouting, I like the others look for sign and of course deer themselves. Once I have a few areas picked out I try to go back about once a month through the spring and summer just to see how thier patterns are changing. I love the opening of bow more than anything, The deer as long as you don't get busted maintain the same patterns they had 2 weeks before bow, so I scout hard and set up stands 2-3 weeks before bow. I scout for gun when I am bow hunting throughout bow season.
