Winchester Model 70 Super Shadow
 

I'm looking to buy a rifle, and i really like the new model 70 super shadow. i was thinking about getting it in a 300. i dont really know the difference between the bullets they use (300 wsm, wssm, win mag, etc.) so i am asking for help/advice on this choice of mine. im mostly hunting whitetail and ive only heard good about this rifle, so i figured its a good choice, i just wanted some outside opinion on it. i normally use a shotgun with slugs, but i think a rifle would be more appropriate for deer season. thanks

you can't go wrong with the regular 300 win mag (win mag), know lots of people who shoot it. my buddy just got a 300 ultra mag and the ballistics are a bit better than the win mag and he really likes it, bullets are expensive though. don't know much about the winchester short mag (WSM), it's fairly new ...uses the same bullet with a shorter case from what i understand.

300 Win Mag. Its been around for a long time and you can buy bullets for it anywhere. The 300 Win Short mag is the flavor of the month. It is a shorter fater version of the 300 Win Mag with out the belt. It was designed for shorter actions. 300 WSS.WSSM is a balistic side step from the original 300Win Mag and only time will tell if they stick around. One thing is for sure the 300Win Mag will always be around. The 300 Win Mag isnt as punishing as the 300 Weatherby. The 300Win Mag will take any big game down quickly way past 200 yards.

I own the gun in 300 WSM, no other gun that i have shot have i liked better,NRA did a test on one said they pulled groups 1/1/4 at 100 yards, i have mine with a scope that came on it shooting 4 bullets by 2 different shooters all through the same hole, awesome gun i highly recommend it!
