In this day and age, if you have something to say you damn well better be able to back it up. Looks like B.S. is a lot harder to get away with when there are 2 1/2 million sets of eyes out there to check things out. There's been too many lately that have put out outlandish claims about deer just in order to make some money off of the rack, or just for the simple reason of "pulling one over" on people. I suppose in a way, Rompola was a good thing. It opened up everyone's eyes to just how far people will go to deliberately mislead people in order to make a profit. Buck Fever Synthetics and their little Rompola World record con job, just to start a marketing scheme in order to sell the scent, really soured people on these types of claims. It's been a long time since I typed that name...lol. Someday someone will take me up on my standing offer of bankrolling a court case against Rompola and his croonies to get at the truth once and for all. Whoever exposes the truth about that will make a lot of money. Any takers out there? Have a good one.

I think you may want to chill out a bit, and enjoy the sport!!!! One bad apple doesn't make the whole basket bad! Bottom line is the trophy is in the eye of the beholder. I was in a buddy of mines office last week when I pointed to a new mount on his wall and asked him why the heck he mounted that scrubby eight point and laughed a bit. Well the next thing I know I'm hearing the story about his 11 year old daughter taking the deer from 150 yds., the first time she ever hunted, and the first time she had shot a rifle. Needless to say, her dad was very proud. Enjoy the sport!

I never did hear the story of the Rompola buck other than seeing the pics. Was it proven to be a fake or just speculation? Dabow

Here we go again. WR, have you EVER made a positive post? You are so hung up on this, we don't need to rehash it over and over and over and over every time you decide to post. Can't you find something positive to post about like one of your own hunts or something? Give it a break please.

White Raven making a positive post. Isn't that one of the seven signs of the apocolypse?

How do you know the rompola buck is a fake? ive read quite a few articles about it, how can someone paint a identical picture of the same deer, that was shot, and how can someone video tape the hunt and have it not be true? He's taken countless numbers of big bucks, but he isnt in it for the money, why do you think he didnt enter the rompola buck into the records? because hes a private guy that likes to keep to himself and when he gets something that big then it gets everyoen going on if its a fake or not and that creates alot of contraversy(sp?) It gives every hunter a bad rep when those things start to circulate.

Sorry just sick of everyone bashing each other over things like this.If someone gets a nice deer and tells people about it because there proud of it dont belittle the person, be happy for them that they got something that they can cherish for a lifetime. Why do we need to bash fellow hunters when we have anti's that are doing that constantly i think we need to stand up together and stop all of the bickering.

Him, her, whatever it is. It crawls out from under it's rock everytime there is any talk of records or whatever and proceeds to spout off about fakes, Rompola and money grubbers. Same old, same old. I can prove this..... That is fake.....My sources say..... blah blah blah.
I don't like it either but talk about a one track mind. I'm surprised the name Zaft wasn't in there as well.

[X(] Does it ever stop! Move on, get over it and stop taking up message space with the same crap!

I suppose the kid in Saskatchewan who took the potential Worlds #1 Typical P&Y deer this fall faked it, produced it or maybe even shot it with a rifle.[:o] Not everyone cares or is in it for the glory, sometimes good things happen to good hunters. I now know why many hunters choose to not enter animals[:-]

WhiteRaven 12-17-2003 05:04 AM

There has been no potential WR typical by archery bowkill taken this year. anywhere in the world..Saskatchewan included. Oh, but I suoppose I'm just being jealous about "the kid's accomplishment".

skeeter 7MM 12-17-2003 12:26 PM

RE: RECORDS RECORDS RECORDS

Looks like you ain't in the know as yes indeed there was a potential typical killed in October 2003 in Debden, Saskatchewan by a young archer. It grossed 212 and netted 206 green...this is old news I am shocked you haven't heard it yet[:o]!!!

Not official yet, b/c as you know it takes 60 days before it can be scored officially but it has been scored and viewed by a number of official scorers. Of course you notice I SAID POTENTIAL, not official.

I spoke with a scorer who scored the deer and heard the story, the kids family has been told to keep it mum, by who I don't know! I assume by a mag triing to get an exclusive following the official scoring of the animal but maybe they don't want attention. Fact remains the guy who scored it see's many top quality deer a year and isn't the type to just blow smoke, he feels it should edge the current record at 204 and change. Needless to say I believe him & many others I have spoke with to be true and have merit. Maybe you weren't on the need to know basis on this particular deer. Kind of funny you never saw the post eluded to this in the back pages on this site[:o].

Better get on your network and find out about this deer the kid shot in Debden, Sask...maybe you'll eat some WHITE CROW;)

WhiteRaven 12-17-2003 01:25 PM

RE: RECORDS RECORDS RECORDS

Skeeter, thanks for posting that "current" story about the deer from Sask. that is more than a month and a half old. Oh and you better call up your friend who scored the rack because guess what. Yes you guessed it. But hey you're so in the know that you probably know what i'm about to tell you anyway. So i won't bother telling you. I guess you'll just have to call your pal again.

Oh now you remember the deer and the particulars...yeah right!!!!!

Funny how my sources don't stack up to your sources, funny how you know so much about a deer that was shot only minutes from my camp and well enough ......you are pathetic!!!

You need to get over yourself and find a new place to nest...rare bird:( Please fly back to the hole you just crawled out of, yes it is right next to your GASIF[8D]

I was skeptical of Rompola's buck also, but I read an article about the Rompola update (in NAH in beleive) about the columnist who saw the Rompola video the next day (where he walks up to it...videoing the whole thing), and saw the kill scene. He claims there is nothing fishy at all...just the "PROS" who KILL DEER IN FENCES, on game farms claiming its a fake....go figure. He also signed a contract while joining a club(anti P&Y????) in Michigan where he can NEVER enter a buck in B&C or P&Y as long as he lives (something to that sort...I was confused on this, but the article showed his sig. and the "contract" from the early 90s or late 80s...something I never knew). Another note, he has an amazing number of bucks that EASILY make either BC or PY, his wall is like nothing I have seen...but never entered 1 of them in the record books, only entered a few when he was younger b4 the "contract." The author of the article also says he saw live footage of the deer...something I never knew b4 either. I am a true beleiver!

RE: RECORDS RECORDS RECORDS

OnehornJimmy the author of that column, Richard P. Smith was also trying to pump up sales for his latest book, Great Michigan Deer Tales where and I quote "This book contains what may be the greatest deer tale of all time. The first two chapters provide in-depth coverage of the Mitch Rompola buck, a typical 12-point taken with bow and arrow during 1998 that scores more than the current world record. There's new information about the hunter and the deer that have never before been published." What better way to try and boost sales than by including this piece of tripe "with new information". Richard Smith also claims Rompola took a 9 pointer since then that netted 191. Do the math folks. An basic 8 pointer netting 191...I don't think so.

Oh yes and wrt Mr. Smith is he not aware of the contract Rompola signed? If not he will be. Here's the Agreement or part of it at least "Mr Rompola and his associates will refer to his deer only as the Romopla Buck. No reference will be made to it in the future as "the world record", or "the world's largest typical" or potential world record" nor listing 216 5/8th's as its score. Geez Richard. loks like you're in violation. well it gives me something to do tomorrow. "Hello..... Arkansas Seed Company"?

White Raven, if you do a little research on big eight pointers you will find that Vic Bulliner took an eight FROM MICHIGAN that scored 183 and some change.

WhiteRaven 12-17-2003 04:57 PM

RE: RECORDS RECORDS RECORDS

James I'm aware they're are 8 pointers out there that score well. And I've seen 180's. Vic Bulliner's score of 184 1/8th was the gross score btw and what a deer it is. Truly awesome. But come on now...191? Net? Think about it, just for a minute. That's all I ask.

James Vee 12-17-2003 05:40 PM

Bulliner's buck's final score was 183 and change. I dont' see why there can't be a 191.

I also agree. It wouldnt suprise me if there was a 200 class 8 point running around somewhere. JMO

I do believe, that he cant enter it into the records unless a bigger buck is killed, thats what i read in the article in Deer and Deer Hunting.
