I pack a lot of gear, it gets damn cold and being prepared is the name of the game. You gotta plan every case senerio, from having to spend the night in fridgid conditions to bringing an elk/bear outta the bush. You gotta be prepared in all aspects and the what ifs that may arise.

I keep all my gear in my Jeep. I seldom get more than 100 yards from it. I park back over the rise from one of my Ambush points and go to my ground blind. All I carry in my vest is 4 or 5 extra shells, my Buck folder. Small folding saw, my tags and two or three gallon bags and ties for the heart and liver. I sometimes have about a ten ft long 3/8 rope in the blind. I have about 1000 feet of rope on a couple of hose spools in the jeep in case one makes it to the bottom of one of the canyons where I hunt.

just in my back pack:

two pairs of latex gloves
buck folding knife
swiss army knife
leatherman tool
flat head screwdriver
grunt call (at all times)
binoculars
cell phone
head sok
neck warmer

all of this and some i probably forgot all in my fanny pack. the walk back to the truck is only 10 minutes, but having the stuff makes me not haveta leave. i have had to use everything in my pack atleast once. and if i go, "ohh, i shoulda had" i put one or two in as soon as i get home.
