What is your weapon of choice for deer hunting?
 

What is your first choice of what to use? What is it ex. what brand, cailber, draw weight etc. etc. And did you harvest anything with it this season?

Mine is always the bow.
This year it was a Hoyt xt2000 cam 1/2 magnatec set at 63 pounds gold tip arrows with slick trick 100 grainers. I took this years buck with it also.

I use a FA 454 revolver. I've taken antelope, deer (whitetail and mulie), bears and even a moose. I can't seem to get an elk, but I will someday.

p.s.e. baby g with xx 75 s 100 grn thunderheads . for a rifle remington model 7 lss in 7mm 08 , with federal premium 139 grn. nosler petitions . both work real well for me. deadly accurate light and portable!

For blacktails, Rem .243.

I have come to prefer a bow.
This year, I harvested a deer with a bow and one with a rifle as well.
I will hunt predominantly with a bow next season...perhaps solely with a bow.
I took one on Oct. 1 with my old PSE, but I will be using a new Parker next year.
I also took a deer with a Marlin 44 Magnum lever action.

i hunt with a horton crossbow. 125 grain muzy broad heads. no luck with it this year. in ohio only shot gun or muzzle load. i hunt with a mossberg 835 riffled barrel and shoot winchester platinum series slugs. those slugs are great!!
killed 2 doe one friday afternoon and one saturday morning. 1 shot on each and they were dead almost instantly. neck shot and head on chest shot split her heart.

Well, .30-06 is my choice. It is a pump so easy reloader. My extra is Rem. .243 bolt.

Harvested a 5 point with the .30-06 this year.

I hunt with a bow until I realize my stupidity after he walks by about 45 yards. That's when I get the 3006. (He has not walked by again, of course) But I prefer the stick and string.

My Bow - PSE Firestorm with carbon arrows and 100 grain 4-blade muzzy broadheads - Took a nice 8-pointer with it on November 8th.

Well my preference is my Browning Ambush which I never got a shot with this season (yet). Next would be my Knight Wolverine 50 cal. BP, then my model 94 30-30, 180 grain corloks, then last but not least my Winchester Ranger 12 gauge with either slugs or double aught buck (what I killed my buck with this year). It all depends on the season and where I am hunting as to what weapon is my favorite.

A Rem 700 ADL .30-06 would be my first choice. I'm looking forward to bowhunting, but I need more field experience and more bow practice.

My Browning A-Bolt Varmit 22-250 with 24" bull barrel or my Ruger77 22 Hornet.

Unfortunately we can't bow hunt on my lease. If we could, I would rather use a bow.

Browning BAR 7mm Mag with Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10X40 Tactical Scope. Farthest shot on a deer has been 475 yards. Next up would be my PSE Mini-G, farthest shot 15 yards :D

Two big does. I don't shoot Bucks. First was with 257 Roberts 100 grain Barnes X bullet. The second was with my NEF 280. 120 grain Sierra pro-hunter bullet. First one 150-160 yards the second 200+ yards. Both went down in thier tracks.
I just got a new 260 Ruger all weather rifle and my son sold me his 308 Browning composite stalker. Also NIB. Can't wait for next year.

Hntngirl. Do you reload for your 243? If so whats your load?

Winchester Model 94 30/30. The gun that has taken more deer than any other. I took a 7 pointer this year with it (open sights).
I used to have a Remington Model 7 in .308 with a scope I wish I still had, because it is a longer range gun, but all of my kills have been under 30 yds anyway.

3 doe with it so far this year. I do shoot bucks, just haven't seen one big enough yet.

2002 Mcpherson Mark 9, 60# draw weight, 87% let-off, with overdraw, 24.5" carbon express cx200 arrows tipped with 100 gr. 3 blade muzzys. Took a doe with it at 7-8 steps this bow season.
Remington 760 pump, 30-06, 150 gr. corelokt. Haven't taken anything with it so far this year but have till the end of Jan. Have taken truck loads of whitetails with it since I got it 14 yrs. ago. Have taken them as close as 3 steps to as far as 235 yds.

I hunt deer exclusively with a bow.
