Special bullet?
 

How many, if any, of my fellow deer hunters and handloaders make one special bullet that gets put in the chamber first when you go out for that deer you've been waiting to take all year long? Just a curious question for you all, I'm not sure why I do, its the same good load I've tested before. I guess that's why I'm asking everyone the question, maybe just to see if I'm a little nutty, after all I do own and love my Savage .308! ;)

I dont reload my own-would be cheaper, but a really good friend of mine does, he makes his 'special shot' for his 223 and his 44 mag,only ? i have is if yuo only make that one special shot, what if you miss for sum unforseen reason what good is it? -just curious?. I've asked him and he said he wont miss, i just had to laugh at him, just to funny-wont miss- six weeks later(last years deer season) opening morning first shot at a nice 6 -->HE MISSED-[:o] .
acording to him the deer was only 50 yrds away-clear shot to boot.

i reload but dont really use a special bullet just pet loads,a hopped up 44 mag for my ruger 96 a real accurate load for my savage 116. 30 06 , the closest thing to a special bullet for me are hand weighed 52 grn. loads for my220 swift ,there is nothing like taking your first deer with a hand load .what a rush

I don't reload yet. I met an old guy who does and he gave me some of his match ammo to try. It's phenominal. I am going to try to get him to load me some in soft point. if he can do that for me I will probably temporarily abandon the remington 165 grn round I have been using for my '06.
