I think driving is hunting just as much as anything else. Where I hunt deer dont move all day. The only way to get them is drives.

amen, brother winchester.
the 1st shotgun season is 5 days. we have many family members who want to hunt the same land. group hunting and deer drives are the only way to fill the tags so we all can have deer meat.

i guess to answer the " why?" question- my answer is because we can. its our choice, its the way we want to hunt, and its the way we do.

and wouldnt scents and calls be considered causing an animal to be " out of what would be their natural routine or travel" ??

Well, yesterday those " if its brown its down" deer drives occured out where I was hunting.

The funny thing is that out of the three bucks killed by members of our group, two of them were BIG bucks. My best friends uncle got a 8 point with a 17-3/4" inside spread, 6" brow tines, 9-1/2" G-2' s, and 7-1/4" G-3' s. His son and another guy were doing a push towards my friend and I, they pushed out about 10 deer that I saw sneek around them and out across a open field, then, I heard a gunshot (that 8 point), and another 6 doe snuck out into the field, stopped, browsed for awhile, then walked off, followed by two more doe and a button buck.

Right after that, we pushed out a small grown up apple orchard and pushed out a buck (a big 7 point). Another guy in the group' s son shot him. This buck had probablly a 17" outside spread and good tine length.

That kids younger brother then shot his first deer, a little 5 point (he is a junior hunter and it was legal).

Also, another guy in the group got a BIG doe. It was almost the same body size as the big 8 point.

So, lets see, a few small deer drives, 4 shots on 4 walking deer, and 4 deer are hanging right now. Not the war and bloodbath that many would have you believe.

So, the guy who shot the 8 point got his biggest buck to date (and he is 50 some years old). The kid who got the 7 point got his biggest buck to date. His brother got his first buck. Another newbie hunting with us got to see a small buck and 5 doe, and action was hot all day............ wow, when you think about it, I guess that was a dangerous, bullet blazing, deer running with their tounges hangin out, evil bloodbath. :D

no way it is hunting.there is no hunter skill involved.you have someone running the deer towards you and you are just the shooter

It's topics like these that really bother me. We have enough people trying to stop any type of hunting. So we as hunters don't need to do it to ourself a piece at a time.
