RE: Anyone that shoots sabot' s I need your help!

You need to do more shooting . Now that you can hit the paper at 25 yds shoot at 50 and re-align the scope/sights. Next go to 75 and repeat. Finally go the the maximum range you will shoot at and see where you are hitting, then adjust accordingly. Not finished yet once you have it sighted in at your max range take a few shots at 25, 50 etc to see where your slugs are going. That is the only way to be confident with your gun.

I understand that component but what I am curious about is whether sighting in sabot' s is any different then sighting in standard slugs.
Of course, they group better!:D Keep practicing$$$$$$$;)

Hey griswold, slug guns and muzzle loaders are all that I use. You should always start out at 25 yds. Once you have the gun zeroed at 25 yds., move out to 50yds. Get conffident at 50 yds. ,then moveout. Slus are heavy and move slower than a rifle bullet, so there is more drop. Depending on the brand , there could be as much as 9" drop. Try several brands to see which one groups the best for your gun. Tony

Unless the wind' s blowing. But remember if your off a half an inch at 25 yds thats 2 inches at 100.

First, a 3" group at 25 yards is terrible! First I would change slugs. Go buy 3 differant kinds and see how each perform. Call Haistings and ask them what they would reccomend. I did a couple years ago and they told me Winchester Supreme Hi-Impact. They were right! Out of 6 differant slugs and about 150 rounds they were the best. Funny thing was sabots were the worst performer. The next best consistent slug was the 2 3/4" Remingtom Slugger. ( $1.99 a box cheapo' s) Another intersting note was 2 3/4" slugs were more consistent than 3" slugs at 50 or 100 yards.

You didn' t say much about your set-up. If you' re having problems a strongly reccomend getting a Red Dot sight. They' re the cat' s meow for slug hunting. Fast two eye open aiming, good low light, and accurate - you know where you;re going to hit. They are also great for running shots during drives.

Check your scope. It can be loose or damaged.
I have a Hasting rifled slug barrel with cantalever scope mount and it shoots great.
I shoot the Winchester standard velocity 2 3/4" BRI sabots.
At 25 yards you should be putting them in the same hole.
