Big Rub (pic)
 

I found this rub this morning. The cedar tree that got torn up is 11 to 12 inches in diameter and the buck rubbed about 2/3 of the way around it. Notice the heavy layer of shavings at the base of the tree.
I' ve read that big bucks will make small rubs, but small bucks never make big rubs. Does anyone have any guesses on how big this deer might be? I' d guess that he' s GOT to be a few years old with a decent rack!

i have a deer that comes into my backyard that makes rubs like that on big cedars. he is about 4-5, since i have half his 12 point rack, and half of last years rack, and this year he is about 250 pounds and has a rack that scores 160-170. i dont know about you deer though

I have a few of those in my timber. Mine were made by a buck skidder. LOL

That' s got to be the biggest rub I' ve ever seen and I' ve seen a more than a few.
I' ve seen them on cedar trees that were probably 7 or 8 inches in diameter.

I would go buy a trail camera if this were on my lease. This is a mature buck. I would hunt him exclusively if it were on my lease.

Wow, that has got to be 1 big bastard. Any other signs nearby?
