Jelly like blood?

I shot this nice deer at 130 yards. I was in a tree stand up about 17'. He bucked up and trotted off. I found blood right were I hit him. Waited about 20 minutes and went looking with 2 other guys and could not find him. I thought it was a lung shot. Can anyone tell me where I hit this deer from these pics. The blood trail ended after about 25 feet. The blood was bright red and was thick almost jelly like. I thought for sure it would be no more than 100 yards in. We walked and scanned an area of about 400 yards and found nothing.

Looks like oxygenated lung blood to me.

That's a muscle hit. No froth in the blood so it isn't lung blood. Not dark enough to be arterial. Probably won't kill the deer unless it gets infected.

that frothy blood tells me the deer died, practice tracking!

I have looked at the pics several times. I see no froth, point it out to me.

poor judgement call on the guide's part
Bright thick blood like this is a good indication of a heart shot |
