North Carolina Mountain Hunting

Well I bit the bullet and got my North Carolina hunting license this year. Being aggravated that I was required to take a safety course after hunting all my life, I found a free on-line course offered by the NRA that was recognized by NC.

Only place for me to hunt is the public gamelands. Now this is an absolute lesson in life in so many ways it ain't funny. I found two places to hunt. One place is a mile walk in and another place is only a 1/2 mile but down a 317ft decent down and an exhausting assent back up. Exhausting but rewarded with beauty.
I didn't get a chance to do a good hunt but did spend several days hunting and getting use to the place. I did let a spike go on my last day. I was hunting on a 35 degree slope looking down at a great gathering place :-)

That does look like a beautiful place. A couple of nice guns you got there, too.

I don't envy you having to hunt game lands. here it can be a big pain. My inlaws have some property in western NC mountains. Never tried to hunt it. Ill stick with Eastern NC.
