Got my deer back pics....
 

I found this buck in April of 2002. Brought him in to get mounted January of 2003. He' s got 15 scoreable points, and grosses right around 130.

Nice pics,never saw the ears done that way.Sort of looks like he is showing an emtion,not sure what it is though.

webejonesin2: I found the deer while shed hunting. He was mostly decayed and eaten so I chopped the antlers and left the rest. I had the taxidermist find a cape to mount with the antlers.

joeturse: I' ve got a couple other whitetails done in normal mounting positions. For example: turning left, turning right. I wanted this one a little different so I asked for an aggressive mount. You might see a buck make this kind of posture right before a big fight, or to intimidate other deer.

I think the ears are pretty tough looking. After dying and getting decayed, he probably had an attitude anyway!
Something else I noticed is the way that it' s a little deeper than a shoulder mount. You can even seen the beginnings of his front legs. hmmmmmmmm.......

Jimbo, that is how I have all of mine done. You can just start to see the beginnings of the front legs. Maybe my taxidermist is a little different I don' t know. My taxidermist also pointed a few more things out to me that I may not have noticed otherwise. He did some extra work on the nose and eye area as well. Around the top part of the mouth is it puffed up a little bit to give it a more aggressive look. It looks pretty cool in person.

Offhand, I' m not sure what the name of the pose is. If you talk to your taxidermist, tell then you would like to see some pics of aggressive mounts they should have some available.

Cleetus, the wolf came from a polar bear trip my dad was on in 2002 out of Arviat.

GREAT MOUNT. I ALSO HAD ONE DONE IN THE AGGRESSIVE STAGE THREE YEARS AGO. I STARTED WITH A FULL SNEAK FORM (THE TOP OF THE HEAD IS LEVEL WITH THE TOP OF THE SHOULDERS) AND THEN I HAD MY TAXIDERMIST CUT THE HEAD OFF THE FORM AND TURN IT DOWN SO THE DEER' S NOSE IS POINTING DOWN. THEN HE DID THE EARS LIKE YOURS AND MADE SOME WHITE OF THE EYES SHOW AND IT LOOKS AWESOME. I REALLY LIKE YOURS TOO. YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE A VERY TALENTED TAXIDERMIST. TELL HIM HIS WORK LOOKS GREAT.

That is a dang nice buck. Too bad all of the tines didn' t have alittle more length for you. It probably would have scored BIG!! It kind of looks like all of the tines got sawed off. :D Great deer. I' d love to have it.

yeah, little more....wait a lot more tine lenght would have been nice. I had it aged at 2.5 years with the jaw bones I brought in.
