How old do you think this buck is?

Hey guys,

Wondering if someone can give me an approximate age of this guy? I'm not very good at it unless I see them in person. Here is a few videos of him from a couple different nights.

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to sort of give location(as where a deer lives can make a difference in body size, which changes how some will look at it and guess)
don'
t need exact details or like, just maybe what state or providence!

to me I say he is either a VERY good 2.5 yr old or 3.5+ again pending where its at!

my guess would be 2.5 to 3.5 years. i think closer to 3& 1/2 years old

Thanks mrbb, I live in Ontario Canada. This guy has been coming to my backyard for a few months now.

Thanks.

Here, that'd be a 2 1/2 year old. Good sweep to the antlers, but not much mass. I'm guessing it would be similar in Ont.

I would say 2 1/2

Ok thanks everyone for the answers, appreciated.

OK then, I say its a 2.5 yr old buck, northern deer get larger bodied sooner, or the healthy one's due, , due to the harder winters you have!

That's easily a 3 year old deer, no less. Not mature yet but not a 2 year old for sure. Large bodied with a small (but not tiny) 8-point rack is typical of a 3 year old deer in the north.

2.5 IMO but its hard to judge deer from different regions.

Definitely. It took me years to pattern deer ages in my region. People always have their go-to methods for aging deer but the reality is the only way is to send a tooth to ministry.
