Got a doe on Friday

Not posting to brag but to state an opinion. In these days of magnum rifles, new super propellants, and premium bullets that some manufacturers think you need to harvest a deer, which I have and used, I shot this doe and dropped her on the spot as she was trotting through the brush with a lowly open sigjted Win 94 in .30-30 and a handloaded 170 Hornady Interlock.
it seems there deer in my neck of the woods haven't evolved into creatures with kevlar hides .

Good going, bronko. That classic has probably taken more deer than any gun out there. Perfect for Pennsylvania and taken plenty of game out West, too.

Edit: I can add a similar experience from tonight--a doe with an iron-sighted Savage 99, 300 Savage. 60+ year old gun and a cartridge designed in 1920.

Out of our camp this year we had deer taken with the following:

6.5 creed Ruger American
30-06 remington 700
.30-06 remington 7600
.30-06 ruger hawkeye
.30-30 marlin 336
.300 savage model 99
.35 remington marlin 336
.35 remington remington model 14

And I carried a .30-40 Krag a few times but didn't connect.

I'd say the classics are alive and well in our neck of the woods!
The new fangled whizzbang super mags are fun too though.

Tom I hope you and your wife are doing well. And just maybe we can connect next year and I'll be able to try out that 350 Legend AR on one of those Ohio deer.
Merry Christmas to you firend. God bless.

Congratulations on your doe. Took one myself with an older Remingtion 1199 using 2 3/4 shells loaded with 16 pellets of #1 Buck. And not the first one taken with this set up.

Keep up the great work. My first buck was taken with your same setup back in the early '60's
