Story about what happened to me at school yesterday
 

I got there as usual for my 1st. period study hall. This is a 7:30. I sit down and say hi to my friend Danny. Well, one of the guys I hunt with, Chuck, comes running in and tells me that our shop teacher, Mr. Hall hit a doe and that he is looking for us cause he wants us to gut it for him. Mr. Hall doesnt hunt, but he likes deer meat!
I get in the shop and he is parked out side the Ag. shop and has her in the back of a Buick station waggon. We drag her out and he gives us his pocket knife cause thats all we got cause we are at school! We gutted her with a pocket knife, not as easy as with a hunting knife, and then had to wait on the sherriff go get there and take a report and give us a salvage tag. After that we load up the doe and the bucket of gut in the back of my truck and take the gut to the taxidermist shop and dump that in his barrel out back. Then dropped the doe off at the skinning and processing place. We got back and sprayed down the enterance to the ag shop and cleanded up a bit. We went to the office and they made us call home and get permission to go home! Said we couldnt stay at school with blood on our clothes. I had to take Chuck to his house and then come back to my house so we could change then went back to the school.
We started about 7:30 and got done and back to class at about 11:00. Half the da was over, we get out at 2:10! :D I love being part of a small town school:D[8D];)

Thats awesome. There are schools around where I went to school that take opening morning off becuase so many kids miss. So its now consider deer day!

Yeah small schools are cool. During my senior year, I was part of the FFA test plot comiittee, so me and two friends would jump in the truck and go " check" the test plot. then a couple of times we had to go get some bleachers from a school 12 miles away that always took a while. Oh how i loved my small school.

Just a little story from my high school memoir...our shop teacher did hunt and was headed to class one morning and found to bucks locked together, he got pics and then went home and got his bow. When he got back one was already dead and the other was hurting so the sent an arrow through the boiler, well the deer jerked and got lose so he was late for school and when we heard what he was doing a buddy and myself signed our selves out and headed for the field. We were able to find the deer quickly but gutting and hanging them, with a lunch break of course, took the rest of the day;):D

Gotta love small schools, they know when season starts and dont even expect you to show up!!

It sounds like you had a great day at deer school. Anyway, that' s what I love about PA, the schools are closed on the first day of regular hunting season. I hope to get me son hunting with me in a few years, he is now 11.

Here in Wisconsin, the small town schools close for the whole 9 day season. They close the school when a certain % of the enrollment is out. After years of 50% of the students being out of school with " Buck Fever" , I guess they decided to just close it up.

Small town schools are the best!! I really wish I could afford to take my kids out of here and put them in a small school like what I went to. My graduating class was some where in the neighborhood of 100. They didn' t close but the whole first week of deer season was excused if you were' nt there. Great story dude, thanks for sharin' .
