How was it turned into a joke?
I've enjoyed the various contests that we've had on the forum. And still enjoy the squirrel contest even though we only have a few members active in it.
i would show up and participate. I don't see these contests ever being what they once were though. There are too many other local options that people are using now instead of forums in my opinion. You can find a Facebook group for people from my county who hunt deer and it has nearly a thousand active members. That ability to connect locally has sent allot of people to these groups. I can ask a question and in minutes have twenty responses from local hunters in my area.
I've always enjoyed the contests here though.

Nah I havent been on one in a few years. I had a few pretty rough injuries and decided to let it go at 22. Did make it out west to live for awhile. Really enjoyed it. Good to see a few old timers hanging around seems like everyone has disappeared.

I know the feeling man. I gave up dirt bikes for a few years after a knee surgery and then putting my collar bone through the top of my shoulder the next summer. Just rode street bikes for several years.
Last year I picked this up though. It's street legal but let's me enjoy some easy trail riding still. And satisfies that dirt bike desire.
No more big jumps for me though, body doesn't want to go through the recovery process again if I mess up.
Allot of the old timers still drop in from time to time. A few have passed away.
