Season's over with very mediocre results: a buttons buck that I shot thinking it was a doe.

Buck tag went unfilled.

First year in around 20 that I didn't get at least 1 deer. Just the way it goes I guess.

One whitetail doe in CO is already in the freezer and I'll be taking one more doe here in TX at the end of the month. That will feed me and the wife for the year.

I caught up with some friends of mine that hunt in central NY; they said it was very slow up there as well.

Our PA camp had the best season we've ever had as far as buck harvest goes.

16 hunters took 10 bucks. And a handful of doe as well.

my little 5 point was the smallest, then we had another 5 point, and the rest were all very nice 7s,8s and 9s.

On the last day of season we took 3 nice 8 points and let several others go as they ran past hunters who already used their buck tags and were waiting on doe.

Also on the last day a father and his two youth sons all three took bucks. The father had the other 5 point and the two boys both got very respectable 8 pointers. That's a day they won't forget.

I saw ten illegal bucks before I saw my five point. Just seemed to be allot of bucks running around this year .

The snow really helped us this year, as well as it just seemed to be more bucks running around. We do allot of drives and we work hard to move deer through some nasty country, and it's not uncommon to see 50 deer a day if you're on post. But often you won't see any buck. This year it was a much more balanced ratio.

So far not good ,missed decent buck Monday .Went out today to check zero on my rifle and it was almost 5 inches high and 3 inches to the right at 100 yards ,the shot at the buck was maybe 120 yards. Reset my rifle and will try again in the morning .

I got both bucks. Still working on the bear. Since I hunt at a lower elevation, bears don't den up till later and even then get up to walk around a bit from time to time.

So much different around the country. I have wondered how bears sleep in warmer areas. DNR says most bears in UP are sleeping by end of October, but you do see some early November. Not very often though. In fact years ago tags were over the counter and it ran with deer season.

I had a great year. I got a 8 pointer and a doe in North carolina and a 10 pointer in Penna. Missed a few does with the 44 mag. open sights.
