Default Landed a nice permission on Xmas eve

I was talking to a regular at our Xmas eve after Mass party and scored permission to hunt their 20 acre orchard next year.

I've not seen it directly, but they did tell me the deer tore them up last year. Looks like a good piece of land from the satellite photos. There's a lake not far from there where I might camp out.

I used to have an orchard that I hunted..

It was pretty much a slam dunk spot for doe in the evening for me.

Dad and I used to hunt a huge apple orchard in PA for the owner. He didn't hunt or shoot either one and was always opposed to hunting until he found out what a pretty good number of deer could do to his bottom line.

I have 16 fruit trees on the property and the deer hit it mostly at night. The orchard is clustered on the road side of the property and I keep the grass cut which removes some of the structure which would attract them during the day. They will browse the buds up to as far as they can reach and eat the apples not harvested when they fall off just before winter.
