The common Sex of Fawn twins?
 

I have beating around the question in my head and evaluating my past experiences and I need some help. What is the common sex of fawn twins? What I mean by my question is when a doe gives birth to twin fawns is the sex of the fawns the same or can it be a fawn buck and a fawn doe? Does anyone know what is generally common? I believe this may be a key issue ignored by some who are practicing QDM.

One other question. What is the common survival rate for buck fawns vs. doe fawns when the mother has died or been harvested?

Most of the twin fawns I see are one of each. No stats on the survival.

This weekend I saw the family with momma and the 2 fawns. After awhile of eating acorns the doe fawn left the pack completely and headed in opposite direction. Rut maybe near!!!!

I also find that if a doe has twins, there tends to be one of each sex. Obviously we' ve all seen two button buck twins or two doe twins, but the majority of the time there is one of each.

i have to agree that most twins are one of each. this year in ohio i have seen 4 sets of twins that were both bucks but this is very unusual in my opion. i have also see several other twins with one of each. another observation i have seen this year is, i haravested a doe the first day of bow and she had two twin bucks. i have see what i think is both yearlings since and they have split up. but i have also seen a button and a young doe together several times they dont have a mature doe with them but they are together every time i see them. i think that this late in the year both sets of twins will make it except if they are taken by another hunter. they are mature enough that i dont think any other preditor will get them.
