Thanks for the responses. Leaning back toward 308. Like I said. I'd never shoot over 400 so as far as that goes I don't need the 6.5s distance. Was just looking at lesser recoil and knock down power between the 2.

They may not directly answer your specific question. But, there are a number of recent threads about the Creedmoor on this forum. Some members touting the accuracy and some touting the great advertisement by the rounds creator. I suspect precision hand loads and proper range time will result in extreme accuracy from either round. The .308 is the chosen round for many snipers especially prior to the .50 caliber introduction.

My $0.02.....If you hand load, go with either and develop a tack driver. If you don't, go with the .308 and find a factory load your firearm shoots well.

the speer 150 grain expands well, its lethal, on deer, 46 grains of WW748 and a fed 215 primer works and produced very good accuracy in several m1a rifles and bolt actions

having looked for a new gun recently myself. i am not going with the Creed, Its too young. not enough experience yet. Not enough ammo availability, unlike the .30 and other well known calibers out there.

I would look @ it as -do I have a gap to fill? say you already had a 300 win mag and a 243 then the 6.5 would be perfect .. if this is going to be you're only rifle for a while , then ask yourself what are you going to be hunting , Elk? whitetails ? Elk then probably 308 .. i'm really just helping you find an excuse for both .. i've gotten good at it lately . ha ha sadly i'm running out of gaps to fill .
ps - i do really like my 260 rem for paper and deer

this might be a dumb question, but ive seen a lot being said about the 6.5 creedmore. my question is, what was it made from? i know the bullet is 264 caliber but what casing was used to create it? im asking because im not familiar with it.

Mr. Slim, It was based on the .30TC which was a fairly dismal failure out of the gate even though I thought it was a pretty fair cartridge when my dad gave it a test run. I'm pretty sure the .30TC was loosely based off both the .308 and 250sav and making 6.5cr from .22-250 brass is easy. Much easier than making it from .308

thanks for explaining it as i didnt really know anything about the 6.5 cr. my reloading book doesnt contain anything about . my book is an older one. i reload for 300 H&H, 30-06, 243, 44 mag, and 41 mag. these are all listed in my manual.
