Anyone hunt near running water?
Just curious what your experiences are. I' m hunting a swampy brook area. Had a spikehorn cross the brook, wind me, and then go back and away. The brook is not normally loud but with all the rain it' s a little noisy now.

RE: Anyone hunt near running water?
I personally love hunting near running water, for several reasons. I hunt up in the north woods of Wisconsin so running water usually means ravines, sometimes very deep ravines, and that tends to force the deer to use only certain spots to cross. Also, I can use the noise from the running water to my advantage when moving around. Additionally, during those hot and dry years water is a natural attractor. I have taken many nice bucks very near running water and most of my stands I use are within 100 yards of a stream.

RE: Anyone hunt near running water?
I hunt here in Maine where I live along side the Sandy River. Have shot a few deer along this river. Wether or not they cross doesn' t even seem to enter the deer' s mind. They just go right across running or swimming. I love to hunt there.
