WY Deer Winter Kill

I heard that 99% of the fawns died and 25% of the deer. Sad if really that bad.

That is an estimation in just part of the NW and SW areas west of the Continental Divide where the snow depths and temperatures were brutal this year. East of the CD in the bulk of the state the deer and antelope have fared very well and there appears to be no more than the average losses expected during a normal winter.

That's good. What I read didn't specify certain areas.

Like mentioned, west of divide was very tough winter, east of the divide, pretty normal snow pack and temps. We actually traveled from our home in NE Montana to Deadwood, SD this past weekend, went thru extreme NE Wyo, lots of deer and antelope enjoying the sunny warm weather, heck, there is already a hint of green on the hills, hopefully we can avoid the severe spring blizzards that happen so frequently.

Remember deer kills from winter

I don't know if it was the same. But I was in one state years ago, where you looked forward to getting a deer with twin spikes. It was so bad, a three horned deer, if it survived one winter, it was seen as a miracle.
Now newbies can now experience what real hunting is about. And you won't dare hunt in one spot and call it hunting.
