RE: Stupid Question??
Any girl that loves squirrel brains is OK in my book.
It' s all been said in here but just to sumarize there are three things that affect a bucks rack: Age, Genetics, and Nutrition. -Genetics: If the buck is genetically inferior it may never grow a big rack and there fore have the same sized rack each year. -Age: As someone already said there is a curve for rack size associated with age. Generally their rack gets bigger with age and then smaller after 7 or 8 years old. -Nutrition: This is probably the biggest variable. If they aren' t getting much protein then they won' t have the nutrition to grow a big rack. This can change from year to year. Here in MD we had an unbelievable growing year because of all of the rain. There are bucks that were a lot smaller last year and have huge racks this year. Next year they may not get as much nutrition and their racks will probably be a little smaller(than they would be if they had the same amount of protein). |
RE: Stupid Question??
