The experience of others., It was a simple statement, not an accusation aimed at you. People pull up on a really big buck, take aim, then stop concentrating on their sights and look at the rack and miss.

Its very hard.....I don't stare at the rack but I don't care what it is, if you sit there hours and hours and hours pursuing and it waiting for it to show up its pretty intense when it happens and its very hard. Specially with a bow. I don't think its as much looking at the rack as it is the pressure of a rare opportunity being right there and now.

Executing when the time comes is probably the hardest part of bowhunting IMO and what Ive seen the most bowhunters struggle with for sure.

I picked a spot on his shoulder and missed. I stood up because my butt was going numb and seen him walking through the brush. I knew he was big but didn't know how big. He was trailing, never lifted his head off the ground. After the shot was made he took off, then I got to see how big he truly was.

Like I said before I still can't believe I missed this buck, but glad he's not wounded.

So I take it, you've never missed?

Why do you seem to now be trying to make something out of nothing when he told you what he meant?! Sounds to me like maybe the miss may have been caused by the projectile hitting something before it got to the buck if he was in brush like you mentioned. :confused0024:

The op was originally giving oldtimr a hard time by the sounds of it. But oldtimr took it the wrong way. At least that's what is sounded like to me from reading all the posts.

I never took the shot in the brush, he was free of any brush. I don't understand it.

My original post was to point out I missed and glad to see him in the area. Oldtimr sounded like he was trying to point out why I missed. I never got a great look at him until after the shot.

Sorry, but you said you were standing and saw him walking through the brush and made no further comment about him clearing it before you shot. This is what happens when things aren't clear due to making a post sometimes compared to talking to someone in person. I think we are all glad that whatever caused the miss that it was a complete miss and the buck appears to be in fine shape and hopefully you'll get another crack at him next season when he may even be bigger.
