Deer decoy question...

I was thinking about buying a deer decoy, and the one that I am thinking about buying is also a deer target. Its about $80, and its really nice actually. Its got the replacable core in it and the horns are detachable. Do you think it is as good as a regular decoy?

Thanks,
Rick

RE: Deer decoy question...

I would think it would be too cumbersome to carry easily.

I have heard that they do work well as a decoy, but it' s just more of a PITA to carry them than the regular decoys.

Yeah, you can disassemble this one pretty easily, and I was thinking about just tying a rope around all the parts of the body, and carrying it that way. Thanks for the advice though.

I' ve been there and done that, used a target as a decoy, workek very well and ended up shooting a nice 6pt.; but I dont think its worth it on the body carrying it to and from the stand. Get yourself a lighter one, I' ve been looking at the ones Cabelas carries myself.

RE: Deer decoy question...

i have used both and trust me the way to go is with a decoy not a target. the decoy is so much lighter and easier to manage. when the time is right to use decoys i will sometimes hit as many as 5 different spots in a morning. the extra weight means alot twards the end of the hunt.
