missing shots

While hunting this week ive non fataly shot 1 deer and completely missed another, going back to last year on the the last day of the season I missed one. Every shot going high.I can't figure out why. I set in a 10ft tall stand and use a 30-06. Any suggestions on how to not shoot high?

What are the distances of these shots? How much have you practiced at those ranges? After you wounded the deer and missed another did you go to the range. 10 feet in a stand should not make any significant affect on the shot.

Did you zero your scope properly? are you taking "lucky" shots? are you flinching?

Exactly what they said.

Shooting high if the gun can be the result of looking at the animal over top of the sights, lifting ones head just when the trigger is pulled.

How about staying out of the woods until you sight in that rifle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 feet is nothing and that little bit of elevation will have no effect at all on a bullet at hunting ranges. Either your rifle isn't sighted in or you don't know how to shoot and are flinching. Game deserves better than to be wounded by either.

By the way you do know that anti-hunters lurk on sites like this looking posts such as this to use as ammo against hunters don't you? Think about that for a minute.

Buy a .243. Stop flinching. Practice. A lot.

The more I think about this post the more I am believing we are being played.

 what is practice? the scope was bore sighted when installed :party:Would a 243 really make a difference with a scope not sighted in nor practice?
