I have always wondered what the average # of deer that a hunter encounters during the duration of a hunting season. Lets use last year since it is still fresh in our minds. I am going to post this in deerhunting and bowhunting so please only reply once!!!

This is the info I am asking for.

1 Public or Private ( If both give two numbers)

2 Time on stand in Hours (Gun)
3 # of does sighted while on stand (Gun)
4 # of bucks sighted while on stand (Gun)

5 Time on stand in Hours (Bow)
6 # of does sighted while on stand (Bow)
7 # of bucks sighted while on stand (Bow)

2 Time on ground in Hours (Gun)
3 # of does sighted while on stand (Gun)
4 # of bucks sighted while on stand (Gun)

5 Time on ground in Hours (Bow)
6 # of does sighted while on stand (Bow)
7 # of bucks sighted while on stand (Bow)

8 # of deer harvested and by what means.
Example = 2 does, Private property, one on ground with bow, one on stand with gun.

I hope we can get a good accurate number. The more replies the better the results ans we can compare ourselves to other hunters to determine where we stand amongst the group. Im Hoping to get a large number of responses. Thanks in advance for responding and I think the results will be interesting.

Private-Bow-On stand
5. 25 hrs
6. 120 does(educated guess, the deer were very herded up)
7. 6 bucks(buck/doe ratio is way out of proportion)
8. No shot taken

Public-Gun-On stand
2. 4 hrs
3. 4-5 does
4. 6-7 different bucks
8. 8 point harvested

Public-Bow-On stand
5. 200+ hrs
6. 135 does
7. 30 bucks
8. Missed shot, no harvest made

2 - On - Stand 10 hrs
3 - 16 does
4 - 3 bucks

8 - 1 doe, private property, on stand with gun.

I live in Colorado, but hunt in Missouri, so I only spent 4 days there last year.

i usually rifle hunt whitetail on my own land in a stand or a blind. hunt probably 10-20 times a season. Sit around 3 hours i guess. usually have at least a dozen does come by me, however the buck numbers are low. maybe 2 smaller bucks but about the 12th time i go out i find a good shooter. always see a lot of deer but i' m lookin for quality not quatity.

I am not going by your chart but cant count the hours in the woods,
Hunt all private land
saw probably 120 does last year im sure somer were the same,
passed up i know 20 something different bucks, shot 1 big 8 pt.
killed 5 does with my bow and 3 does with a rifle.

i hunt in southern indiana and northern kentucky and see approx. 2.5 deer per hunt, 1 buck per 5 does.
