hunting a new spot

this morning got outta my stand at 9:00, landlord came to get a few truckloads of gravle about 100 yds or less from my stand, but got down and found a bedding area, surrounded with red berry bushes, found a small scrape bout the size of a basket ball, then walked a trail out of the bedding area to find a good sized scrape, if you laid your bow in it, the scrape was a little bigger then that but there' s pines to the south and dried up swamp to the north and the beds are just south of the swamp which is real thick but there just on the edge of the swamp, any advice about where to set up a stand, we know there' s alteast 5 bucks in the area and a number of does.

Which way does the wind most commonly blow from? The answer doesn' t really matter! Wind changes direction and if you have limited yourself to only one stand location, you' ll hook yourself.

It sounds like you have identified the area of most common travel and the area you want to hunt; the scrapes. You should try to find at least 4 trees in the general area that will get you a clear alley or shooting lane. Beyond that, due your time in the woods and develop a picture of how when and where the deer are moving.

But, then again, with the rut on, a lot changes!:)
