big deer in town
I had a great shot at a eight pointer this morning. :)I had the pin sight right on him I just froze and didnt shoot. :( Has anyone ever had buck fever and just couldnt shoot at the deer? He got within 20 yard from my stand. He smelled the trails End #307 that I put out. As he was walking away he jumped in the air why did he do this? As he was walking away I grunted at him and I also had a doe bleat. He didnt respone to either why is this? Do you think he will ever be back? When I got down from my stand I went over to see the scrape that I saw him make. Found out that he has been there before. There were about 3 different scrapes under this one large tree branch. I also found a few rubs. Other then thats all I found I didnt want to look around to much.

RE: big deer in town
This also happened to me twice. The first time is when I was a kid and had a chance at my first deer. I was sitting at the bottom of a large tree and heard something behind me. Thinking it was probably a squirrel, I eased around slowly to see a big doe (seemed big to me at the time) walking along slowly feeding not 30 yards away. I raised my grandfather' s .32 cal. Winchester but couldnt pull the trigger. I had the hammer pulled back and everything, I was so nearvous, I just couldn' t shoot. The second time is when I was a teen ager and had my crosshairs on my first BIG buck. He was walking across a clearing and I froze once again. When I finaly shook it off, I pulled the trigger but was so nervous, I still missed him. The buck just stopped, looked around then kept going. I figured it wasn' t worth me taking another shot at him as he won that war. ;) Good Luck!! -- CDH
