The RUT IN N.E. Pa.
I started to see little bucks doing a little cruising for does the last week of Oct. here in N.E. Pa. I thought the 1st week in Nov. would have them searching even more but not the case here. Even the little bucks are together now and see doe's by themselves. The weather this week is in the high 60's and even 71 today. I have always gone by Charles Alsheimers Rut forcast he is usually right on. He said it would be a week earlier then 2014 because of the moon phase. He stated from Oct, 31st on they would be seeking. Any one seeing a later pre-rut also.

The moon phase does not control the rut, the amount of daylight controls it.

Warm weather is the culprit

Next week should be crazy (I hope).

The Rut
What I was was talking about Oldtimer was what he calls the rut moon and 2 days after it which ties in with the amount of light. I know how light effects deer. I went to an outdoor show one time with 2 live bucks with huge racks there and they kept the lights on all night in there pens so they would not lose there racks too early. He was right on in 2013 predicting a late and a trickle rut. The rut didn't kick in until the 3rd week in Nov.

My youngest son took a nice 8 pointer yesterday morning...we saw a total of 4 bucks and a small doe...I think things are going to start to heat up this weekend...the highs her is SW Ohio this week are mid to high 70's....but, this weekend highs in the mid 50's and low's in the low 30's....I expect to see a lot of rut activity this weekend and next week...

I think you are right Doughboy2 at least I hope so because it is the last week for Pa. Good Luck to you and tell your son congrats. on the 8Pt.:s4:

The warm temps slowed them down I think. I'll be out tomorrow and Saturday evenings and hope to see some good movement.
