Deer season ended early
Deer season ended early for my wife and me. I got mine (nice fat Spike) at 8:15 AM and the wife got hers (fat barren Doe) at 10:45 AM on opening day (last Saturday).

Cool, your hunting partner is your wife. Must be easier to get out hunting.

Why not more?.... I guess just because we don' t need more. We normally only go through a couple of deer a year (cause we have so many doves, grouse, turkeys and waterfowl in the larder). We probably only eat 15 lbs of store bought meat a year.

You could always keep hunting, then if you get one donate the meat to a homeless shelter or something along that line. It would be a good cause as well as a reason for you to get back out hunting. Just a thought - Congratulations by the way!

Man, I can' t keep the venison I get. I have friends who don' t hunt but love to eat. Plus I can donate to the homeless if I ever get THAT much meat. Never had that problem though.........but I' m prepared if I do.

The other reason
The ' other reason' that I don' t hunt more deer is because just about as soon as deer season is over, the waterfowling starts heating up, and I' d much rather hunt something where I can use my dog.
I CERTAINLY 100% respect your idea of giving food to the poor, but here in WA, it' s a big hassle to do so.
