Since the pilgrims started settling this country women have been gathers. In the spring they gathered Ramps, fiddle head ferns and shroons, summer they were picking all the wild berries and other wild fruit plus many other plants they knew about or learned to use from the Indians. They also took time to help their man in the field at times plus cook the meals and do the wash. Baked bread and a whole bunch of stuff todays pampers made up bimbos can't, won't do and whine the men need to help them. Is a rare thing to see some woman under 30 that copuld cook any thing that didn't come in a box or can. I am so glad I shopped wisely for a wife. Only thing I can't get her to do is drive my stick shift CJ or truck. Always wants one of those two pedal things.

In fairness to my wife, she's a mortician with an unpredictable schedule and lots of evening/weekend work. Doesn't lend itself to taking care of the kids by herself while I'm off hunting. I appreciate the time that I do get. In the past year I've shot a pronghorn, whitetail buck, and turkey on limited hunting time and I'm fine with that. There's nothing wrong with spending extra time with your kids while they're young.
