Feeding Corn

I have three bags of roundup ready seed corn that is 5+ years old. Was thinking about putting some out in front of trail cams this summer. Any harm to that?

That is not corn meant for animals to eat.

I love it !!! :barmy:

Food, cover and water source - smart huh ?

It is likely that the seed has been chemically treated to prevent rotting. You might poison the deer. Plant it instead!

If that seed is treated (more than likely if its seed corn), I don't think it'll kill the deer, but they'll have some seriously upset tummies at the very least. If its 5+ years old, I'd be willing to bet less than 10% of it germinates. The best place for that old seed corn is either in a compost pile or a dumpster somewhere.

till an area and over seed it.

MZS 07-06-2015 10:19 AM

And old seed will germinate, although not as well as new seed. I just planted some 5+ year old garden corn - about 1/2 to 1/3 of it came up.

Depends on your states regulations. Its illegal to bait or feed wildlife here in the state of Idaho, (except for bears in certain units). No mineral blocks or salt licks allowed either.

just plant it
