Recovered X Bullet (pic)

I loaded this bullet the Saturday after Thanksgiving and my buddy shot his buck with it on opening day. We found it lodged under the skin of the off shoulder. It's a 150 grain .308 bullet launched from a 308 Winchester Model 88. 45 grains of IMR4895. Looks like the pictures in the catalogs.

Yep, it looks just like all of the TSX and TTSX bullets that I've recovered from animals that I've shot with them from my .375 RUM and .300 Weatherly. They are the only big game hunting bullets that I use in those rifles.

I use their muzzle loader bullet. I have recovered a few. All have been just like the photo you have posted.

By the way, good to hear of another using a Winchester Model 88 in 308 Win. That was my first deer rifle. Unfortunately it was stolen from me back in the late 1970's by a couple of "victims of society", twin brothes .... both of whom have gone on to their eternal reward. Both were killed in prison fights.

Hey X308 how far was the shot and do you know the muzzle velocity or impact velocity? I'm curious.

Thanks, great pics!

According to the reloading manual and some of my calculations, I'm assuming the bullet was going around 2640 fps. The load was 1.5 grains more than the minimum load and 1.5 grains less than max. And the barrel is 22 inches but the manual was using a 24 inch barrel.
