Need help with caliber sizes

I recently inherited a few different guns and was curious if I have a proper understanding of what each gun is best used for.

1. Weatherby .270 mark v - Best for deer hunting where a long distance shot may be needed?

2. Weatherby .300 mark v - Best for big game like Moose & Elk?

3.
Browning B78 .22-250 - Best for medium game like Coyotes?

4.
Savage .30 - .06 - With the proper bullet sizes can do it all?

5. Browning BLR .308 - Close to medium range deer hunting? I deer hunt NY so I rarely can see over 100 yards maximum.

Am I in the ball park?

Thanks

"Best for medium game like Coyotes?"

Coyotes are not considered "medium" size game (normally thin skinned smaller hoofed animals).

Coyotes are considered varmint, now more often called "predators".

A .22-250 is an excellent caliber/cartridge for animals under +/-75lbs (or more) at +/-300-500 yards (or more).

Lastly, there was a time when the.308 was considered a "long range" caliber/cartridge (now it's a .338 Laupa).

BTW - You're in the ballpark thought - couple nice gun too !!!

Pretty much sums it up. Nothing to add.

The 270 Weatherby will do it all, with the exception of the big bears. You are right on with your assessment of the capabilities of your calibers. Enjoy them.

The 22-250 would be good for coyotes and other varmints. The other calibers are all sufficient for all animals in North America with the possible exception of the big bears and they will work for those if you put the bullet in the right place.
