Finally connected (got him back today)

Had a hard time getting on this old wary buck. He finally took a wrong step. Not the biggest horns in the world but man he was like a ghost. Ended up shooting him at 10 yards and when he took that wrong step he knew it.

Say what you will about him not having the biggest horns; nice buck !!!

Swollen neck, what's for sure !

Topgun 3006 11-23-2014 06:49 PM

He definitely looks like an old timer!!! Good going, but if he was that close why didn't you just hit him over the head with your gun, LOL?!!!

Yes, his neck was huge. I'm definitely not complaining. I'm perfectly happy with him just the way he is, his horns just aren't a very accurate representation of the class of animal he really was though.

He was with another nice buck. The rut is pretty much over here.

The small bucks were still trailing bred does but these big boys were grouping back up.

The rut was early here.

This buck has been in his bed before daylight and staying until after dark all season. I'm not sure why he chose to be on his feet in the daylight that day. He didn't give me much time to observe what he was doing as he was all the sudden right on top of me (30 yards and closing) by the time I got ready to shoot he was 10 yards and had sensed something was wrong. He just froze when he sense something was wrong and I pulled the trigger.

Thats cool, I like the very early season when the bucks are grouped up and easy to pattern and late season when they group back up again..

Just please make sure she keeps her hands away from the hole and only uses that stuffer. I had a family years ago that had a small grocery/meat market that I inspected as a part of my job for the MDA. The store was attached to their house and their little boy that was about the size of your girl slipped into the meat dept. thinking he would help his Dad grind meat. Before they knew he was even in the store they heard a scream and he had lost his right arm up to the elbow!

She has daddys hands...they won't fit down the tube. Look at her hand in comparison to the tube.
