Default Urban hunting to curb the overpopulation of deer

'Heron Island, near the Lachine Rapids is full of deer, the point where the wildlife department are authorized controlled hunt, close to urban areas.

The island is only a few minutes by boat from LaSalle Boulevard. In summer, there is a colony of herons single in Quebec, thirty cottages, and throughout the year, many white-tailed deer are rampant in this conservation area.

Many trees are damaged. Around mature hackberry home to more than 300 heron nests, there are more shrubs or seedlings.

With fifty deer for a half a square kilometer, population density is higher than that of Anticosti Island.

Deer Island Heron have no predators and are the descendants of one male and two females arrived on the island, it is not clear how, in the early 2000s.

"The ability to support plant level is three to five deer. It is 14 times above the normal density, so the vegetation is taking a beating, "says Julien Fish biologist Nature Conservancy of Canada. Hence the idea of this pilot controlled hunting in semi-urban areas.

"The level of professionalism and experience of the hunters were considered. We did not want a number too large either, a maximum ten, given the area of 0.6 square kilometers, "says Eric Jaccard, a biologist at the Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Parks.

Hunting is done with a bow or crossbow. "A stray bullet easily pass through the other side and could kill someone. So the controlled archery hunting is that there are safer, "argues Eric Vezeau, hunter and coach at archery.

Another day of hunting could take place in November and again next year, until we reach the ideal number of a dozen deer in Heron Island

If hunting is only done with a bow or a crossbow then why does the photo show a guy with a semi-auto shotgun?

Yeah, What's up with the shotgun. Guy's got enough shells to kill a herd of deer.

What is up with this yassinesd person? All his or her posts are either cut and paste or gibberish that makes little or no sense and all have an add for something inside the message box. I smell something that smells suspiciously like spam!
