Do donkeys scare away whitetails?

My wife has brought 6 mini Jacks onto our property, and I'very noticed a decline email in deer sightings since then. Are they responsible for the decrease?

Not likely as deer inter act with farm animals all the time.

What does e mail have to do with seeing deer?

:D Al

I've hunted my cousin's place in southern Arkansas for decades. He has had a few donkeys there with his 20-30 goats and few head of beef cattle as long as I can remember. I have seen deer, turkey, goats , cattle and donkey in various combinations milling around together many times.

Only critters I have seen spook the deer off practically every time have been feral hogs and coyotes.

I knew someone would come up with a good one like that, LOL!

My thought would be that the donkeys are something new to the area and it may take a little time for the deer to get use to them. Hard to say for certain but that's what I would say.

I couldn't tell you if yours are or not but donkeys are protective by nature and some of them will absolutely run deer off.

aggression is usually reserved for the K9 variety but some donkeys are over achievers.

This is not the same thing, but I have a stand that I can hear a donkey braying from. I've seen deer more than once, right after he starts braying in the AM. Could be coincidence, as I generally see deer pretty steadily throughout the AM from that stand. I can say there are deer living very close to that donkey.

What are the donkeys gonna do when they see you slipping out there in the dark?

My guess is the donkeys or mini-donkeys are not going to be good for your deer hunting.
