Deer eating cacti?
On one of my properties there' s a HUGE cactus patch, and the other morning I noticed a deer standing in the middle of it, nibbling away at something, I watched it for a time, then it meandered off, so I went to see what it was eating, sure enough there were chunks of cacti blades missing, is this a common food source for them ,or is that doe just weird?

I know that here in Texas in times of drought the ranches will tourch the catus burning off the stickers so that the cattle can eat it. I' m sure deer will eat it if there aren' t any stickers on it.

Yes the deer will eat cactis I hunt in south texas and see them eating it all the time they are high in protein, and in the drought its a good food source. Some ranchers even plant the ones without the thorns on them for food for the deer and cows.
