Spring deer.

Starting to shed a little bit here now. Soon they will be losing huge clumps of hair. I pick up the big clumps separate the dark from the light and tie fly's with it.
Mostly they are in groups yet but will soon will split up for a while when they give birth and the fawn(s) are real young. The does start bring the fawns around about the end of June here into the first part of July.

Fawn in distress is a good call for coyote hunting.

Yes, deer coming out on open fields here too. Amazes me that they could even survive the 100+ inches of snow and months of subzero, coupled with crusted spring snow to make them vulnerable to predation. But there are least some left!

With respect to the deer hair, I used to make bass flies for fly-fishing with such shed hair.

The groups are starting to split up around here this week end. Temps have been in the high 60's into the mid 70's since Thursday.

I have seen several lone deer and a couple of groups of two and three down from the 15 to 20 per group just a week or so ago.

Had a doe this morning tell me of about the 4 inches of snow on the ground this morning.
When I told her I didn't do it she stomped her foot and went her merry way.
