Default 30/30

I love every ones responces. But to me every time I do hunt with my newer marlin in 30/30.It brings back memories of a 14 yr old kid with a brand new 1963 marlin sitting on a hill in the catskills mountains getting ready to kill his first doe. Funny how I relive that moment , only when i use a 30/30. I did get the doe. Thanks DAD.

Gunplumer, I'll consider myself lucky then. My local Walmart has at least 500 rounds at any given time. I don't buy Nugent, Hornady, Barnes, or Rem in 30-30. Waste of money to me.

Win Powermax 150 is the first and only 30-30 ammo I've used that makes everyone ask, "what the hell did you shoot that with", before and after getting it on the skinning rack.

I've used everything they make and there will be none better performing than Win Powermax 150gr PHP in my lifetime. Even the Barnes HP can't best it on whitetail. I tried the stuff after having some bad lots of Leverevolution, worked so well I bought about 600 rounds of it from Academy three years ago at about $13 a box. I ain't looking to change...EVER!

Very nice! I too am a big bowhunter and tend to hunt many places in bow only zones now, but still do some gun hunting. I have been wondering how to mount a scope on my model 94 also. Thanks for that, gunna pick one up now! Did you have to tap it or used existing screws? Good luck with it, its a great deer rifle, I have always used mine with iron sights for deer drives and my scoped 30-06 for stand hunting.

I have a lot of different rifles, but always enjoy hunting with a Marlin 336c, I handload for it and it will shoot close to an inch moa off sandbag, if you would like the load pm and i will give it to you.

If a 1894 chambered in .357 can reliably kill deer at or under 100 yards; 30/30 is more deadly. Their is no doubt in my mind about a 30/30 and deer hunting.

Every deer I've shot went straight down with a 30-30 Marlin...BUT every hog...not so good. I use a 270 on hogs.

Loved my 30/30 for stalking deer...next best thing to bowhunting...had the same issue hunting hogs with it though. I rarely hunt with a rifle anymore and I gave up my 30/30 to my FIL. Prefer the .270 when I do rifle hunt but great memories with the 30/30.

I gotta try that Kwik-site side mount for my 30-30 Winchester. That sounds like the hot tip.

I just inherited a 1902, model 1886, 33 Winchester lever action. I did get some original 33 ammo with it , but don't want to use it. The only place I could find that had ammo is Buffalo Arms and they make it from 45-70 casings. Looks like a lever-revolution. I do want to shoot a deer or hog with it this year.
