I quess I like South Dakotas law here. They reguire a cartridge of 224diameter or larger which has a minimum of 1000 lbs muzzle energy. The only hole in the law that I can see is that it allows 357 magnum handguns and you will have a hard time finding a 357 load that has 1000 lbs Muzzle energy. I questioned them on this and they tell me there is one 357 load that does reach that level. They cannot however tell me what this load is. I think the 10 MM handgun is also legal but not the 40 S&W. I have no problem with the 357 if shots are short. If I were writing the law I would draw the line on Handguns at 41 Mag. Just my opinion though. The law also bans any semi auto firearm holding more than five rounds in the Magizine.
