t/c venture predator

Anybody have one of these? I see them at my local dicks for $500. Its the combo with the scope im sure the scope is cheap. Also they have a $75 rebate so it woukd be 425..any input/reviews appreciated

Bbj270 02-02-2014 06:07 PM

i dont own one but the cabelas in hamberg pa had a bout 40 used tc bolt actions on martin luther king day. that was a bad sign all looked in like new condition. plus they have a recall on them right now. the dicks by me has one for $599 they have a remington varmint for $550 that i feel is a better rifle. they also have a plain tc venture with black stock for $400.

The TC Venture stainless with weather shield and the brand new Ruger American in Stainless are the best entry level boltguns in the market right now IMO !

jandrey 02-02-2014 07:25 PM

So you think the venture predator is worth it?

Sheridan 02-03-2014 08:02 AM

YES - Hard to find a production rifle with all those "features" at that price !!!

Bbj270 02-03-2014 08:31 AM

the people at cabelas said since the recall came out poeples been selling the tc rifle nonestop in pa they had about 40 used ones on their racks. seeing all those used rifles at one place turned me off from seriously looking at the tc rifle platform. a lot of them looked like they never been shot.

jandrey 02-03-2014 09:57 AM

come on guys, there has to be more people that have one of these rifles

Lunkerdog 02-03-2014 09:58 AM

Heck, maybe I'll find some good deals on some TC rifles.

I'm guessing that this is the recall your referring too... It seems like an easy fix... Heck I have a friend that has a Rem 722 that was made in the 50's that had a safety recall... Those rifles couldn't be unloaded with the safety in the on position.

I have one in a 338win mag that I won. After I got it back because of the recall I put a nikon buckmaster on it and it have it shooting between a 3/4" and 1" group consistantly now. I doubt I would buy one if I had to pay for it when you can get a weatherby Vangaurd for a little more.

No not that recall it is a new one.

I own a T/C Venture. Yes, there have been 2 recalls on the rifle and T/C has top notch customer service. The first time I sent it in, I received it back in 2 weeks and the second time took about a month. I never had any problems with mine personally. It's deadly accurate, as advertized, right out of the box. I've owned it for 4 years and have shot deer at 50 yards and out to 225 yards. No complaints from me and I recommend it to any who asks. I have more expensive rifles but they don't come close to the shot groups that the T/C shoots. All self preference I guess.

I have a TC Venture in 7 mm mag. I had an issue with my first gun. There must have been a manufacturing issue in the chamber. After 3-4 shots, I couldn't open the bolt. Took it back to my shop and it was sent back to TC, and a replacement sent out shortly after. It is extremely accurate, relatively light, and the stock is very comfortable. Took my buck this year with it right at 100 yards. I believe I got mine for right around $380 and topped it with a Zeiss Conquest. Also, I'm a big Ruger fan. My other deer rifles are a No 1, and M77 MKII. My final decision came down between the TC and the American. 3 things pushed me to the TC, which were the 5r rifling, accuracy guarantee, and trigger adjustability without removing the stock/action. Even with the initial hiccup, I feel I got more gun than I paid.

I have the T/C Venture in 204 Ruger and I love it. Flat shooter and accurate with factory ammo.

the recall states'm rifles made before June 13 2013 in some rifles the safety lever may bind preventing the safety from becoming fully engaged.

Yup, it also says that there is a fix for that, and shows you how to identify if a particular rifle has been fixed or not.

This isn't the first rifle recall that's ever been issued as I pointed out about my friends Rem 722 made back in the 50's... It's certainly no death sentence for the for the T/C Venture, but may result in me picking one up cheap:cool2:

If any of you all are planning on buying, I saw the Venture in the Gander Mountain flyer for $400 (after rebate), without a scope apparently.
