For a good shooting cheap rifle don't look past the weatherby vanguard. They aren't the best looking but they do shoot extremely well.

I have a Remington Model 700 Classic in 6.5x55 Swedish. It will group 5 shots pretty much in the same hole with Seller & Belloit 131 gr soft points, which are deadly on deer and pronghorn. It is so accurate with that factory load that I it is the only rifle I have that I don't even bother to handload it. Natchez had it on sale a few years ago for $8.00 a box and I laid in a big supply. I can keep it going for many years without bothering to buy dies.

Most accurate rifle I've ever owned and still own is my T/C encore .50cal 209 Magnum. Literally, it is scary accurate. 150gr. powder, .44cal Hornady hollow pointw/sabot.
