Better late than never...
 

I've been browsing around this site for a little while and wanted to finally make a significant post. This deer season was my second season ever. Last year I was lucky enough to get a doe with my bow even though I had just purchased a bow and learned how to shot it in the middle of the season. Well, this year I decided to purchase an Ithaca Deerslayer II a few weeks before firearm season started and wouldn't you know I got my first buck on opening day! I know this post is a little late but hey, I've got to start somewhere.

I was completely hooked after my doe last season. Luckily, my wife is becoming a big fan of venison too!

That's a nice buck...sure its not a record. But for me its not about making the record books. Its about the hunt. Congrats! You going to do a Euro mount or anything with it?

Definitely not about records for me either. He's getting European mounted and should be done in March. I'll be sure to post him up when complete.

My wife loves to cook and eat venison but she makes me hang it and cut it in camp and bring it to the house only after it has been butchered and wrapped.

No dead critters with their tongues hanging out in the back yard.
