Never seen this before.
 

I killed a doe this morning that weighed about 100 pounds. Field dressed her and everything looked fine. About 10 minutes after I finished I was cleaning up and getting ready to load her in the truck when I looked down and saw her intestines moving like a pile of snakes rolling around on each other. I am not a surgeon (LOL) so I don't know exactly which part of her guts it was but I am guessing what I would call the small intestines. About 1/2 inch in diameter and gray in color. The hole pile was pulsating a moving around like it was full of bugs or something. I cut into them in a few places to make sure there was not some kind of bugs. I took a short video on my phone but I don't think you can upload videos on this forum can you?. The video is a .mov file from my iPhone. Anyone ever seen this before. I have probably killed and gutted 50-75 deer in my life and have not noticed anything like this before.

Well, I AM a surgeon and I can tell you with 100% certainty that I have no clue what you were seeing.

My guess is large intestinal parasites, possibly a bad infestation of tapeworms.

Just kidding about the surgeon part but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Wasn't that cold this morning. In the low 40's.

Someone posted this happening before on youtube.. He was told that the intestines do not need a signal from the brain to work. Therefor they are still doing there normal job.

If you've cleaned and immediately skinned many big game animals, I'm sure you've seen muscles still twitching, especially in the hind quarters. That gut pile was essentailly doing the same thing and as the above post said were just doing their thing!

That is creepy looking.I don't think I have studied the intestines after I've got them out but next time I will watch.
