Default Is a Sandero 300 Win Mag too much for White Tail?

I am just curious, I am planning on going out west with family and hunting Elk as well. I have not hunted before I have always wanted too, I finally have a job where I can spend the money and time into hunting.

Thanks

If you can shot it go for it. I killed wv deer with my 300 weatherby, and use my go to gun a 7mm mag. I know someone with a Sanderson in 300 ultra mag. They killed elk and moose along with deer with it.

I have shot rifles before, not recently, I am going to take the proper precautions to learn and practice everything needed.

A heavy rifle not one to carry around in the mountains, but a nice rifle to watch opens ranges.

I've got a buddy who hunts whitetails with a .300 WSM -- I don't see a problem.

I hunt whitetails with a 300 Wby Mag. Unless you shoot them through the hindquarters, not much different.

More gun than is needed strictly for deer but there is no such thing as overkill. Dead is dead. I've been known to shoot deer with a 375 H&H Mag and a 9.3x62 Mauser. If you're combining deer with an elk hunt then the 300 is a great choice. I'm a believer in carrying a big enough gun to cleanly take the biggest animal you expect to run into.

Take the 300 and enjoy the hunt.
